About the
Competition


In this competition, students will create their own Android/iOS applications while learning the fundamentals of computer programming.


This competition is perfect for children who dream of creating their own apps and sharing them with friends or publishing them.

The theme for the competition is “Well Being”. Students need to build an app that focuses on Emotional, Physical and Social well being.

Through 3 online interactive sessions, students will learn and create an array of apps. Finally students create their own app and compete in the competition.

By the end of the competition, the top 3 app developers will be awarded prizes and showcased on Atlab social platforms

Well Being


The theme for the competition is " Well Being". Students need to identify an real life problem that focuses on Physical, Emotional and Social well being and build an app to solve that problem.

This competition is perfect for children who dream of creating their own apps and sharing them with friends or publishing with 4 simple steps - Learn, Identify, Create and Share

LEARN

Students register and learn to basics of programming and create app through 3 online sessions

IDENTIFY

Students identify a real life problem related to the theme- Well being

CREATE

Students create their own app to solve the problem they identified

SHARE

Students will present their app to the judges and top ideas will be posted on the website

FAQ

1What is a WELL-BEING competition?
The app making contest hosted by ATLAB provides an opportunity for middle school and high school students, to use their STEM knowledge, their ingenuity, and their creativity to come up with an original mobile app that they can use every day.
2Will we get participation certificates?
All registered participants who attend online sessions will receive participation certificates.
3Is there a fee for entering the competition?
Yes, the registration fee for the competition is AED 100.
4Who can Participate in the Wellbeing competition?
  • The competition is open to students between the age of 9 to 20.
  • Students register as Individuals to participate in the competition.
  • Only for students residing in UAE/KSA.
5What should be submitted for the competition?
Students register themselves as individuals, attend online sessions and learn, create their own app and submit in the following format.
  • Students can choose to develop any app as long as it adheres to the competition theme (Wellbeing).
  • The App should be developed using MIT App Inventor/Thunkable online platform only.
  • The App should be fully functional and bug-free
  • Submit your app in .apk format for android, presentation in pdf format and unlisted youtube link of your 3min elevator pitch video.
6How many submissions can I do?
Students are allowed to submit only once, so make you sure you are well prepared before submission.
1Do participants need to know how to build a mobile app to enter the competition?
No. Once the students register they can attend online sessions conducted by ATLAB trainers and learn how to build a mobile app.
2Which mobile platforms are included in this competition?
Students must create Android OS and iOS app only using MIT App Inventor/Thunkable online platform.
3How to get started developing my App?

4What is the judging Criteria?
Judging Criteria (Total- 100 points)
  • 10 points for project relevance to the theme
  • 20 points for the algorithm used
  • 20 points for the app UI-UX
  • 20 points for the presentation
  • 20 points for the Judges Q & A.
  • 10 point Marketing plan
5When is the last date for submission?
July 5th,2020 is the last date for submission.
6Do we have to follow any template for presentation?
No, there is no specific template. Students can be creative with their presentation but should represent the storyline of their app and its goal.
